Cyprus Accepts EU Blue Card Applications

Oct 22, 2025

The Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection announced the implementation of the EU Blue Card scheme in Cyprus. As of 7 July 2025, Cyprus accepts EU Blue Card applications. The EU Blue Cards let highly skilled non-EU/EEA professionals live and work in Cyprus and most EU countries, except Denmark and Ireland.

The EU Blue Card offers several advantages to eligible applicants, including:

  • Entry, re-entry, and residence in Cyprus
  • Access to family reunification
  • Access to highly qualified employment
  • Equal rights with Cypriot citizens in work, education, training, and social benefits
  • Mobility within other EU Member States
  • Residence periods in different EU countries count toward EU long-term resident status

This is a great opportunity for Cypriot companies to strengthen their workforce by recruiting global talent more efficiently.

In Cyprus, the EU Blue Card applies to highly skilled jobs in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), pharmaceutical research, and shipping (excluding captains and crew).

The minimum gross annual salary required for the issuance of an EU Blue Card in the Republic of Cyprus is set at €43,632.
